The app for independent voices

I got to hear a woodpecker this morning on my run. I just love their sound. The beat of the drum energized me 90 minutes in. Then I recalled what my children taught me about 8 years ago.

Brindsley said, “Mom, did you know the woodpecker has a really long tongue.”

“It does? I wonder what for?” I said.

“The woodpecker wraps their long tongue over their brain so when they peck the trees, their brain is protected,” said Delaney.

“What! You’re kidding. That’s amazing!”

My children smiled and said “It’s so cool.”

I was blown away by this knowledge and still am as I pumped my arms uphill, listening to the drum of the woodpecker. I smiled under my face covering. The world is so fascinating.

Thank you, Lord.
