This is a real building in Baltimore — the Curtis Bay Water Tank. NO FILTER, NO PHOTOSHOP. Built by Depression-era craftsmen during a time of civic pride in infrastructure. It appears in ch.11 of my novel FLUX, which I’ve just been polishing to workshop with my writing group. That chapter comes out June 5. You can read through ch.6 now on my Substack.
This image is from Preservation Maryland’s Flickr: “A brick circular wall surrounds a massive steel water tank built in the 1930's. The circular wall is 2-foot thick brick in Romanesque Revival style. It features 28 shades of brick made by US Clay Products Kilns and is considered one of the most well preserved and beautiful examples of brickwork in the country.”
