April 1st - Write a poem about someone who played the fool; either yourself or someone else in honour of April Fool’s Day
(prompts by Alex Dawson)
For April’s Fool
I was young
and I thought you were
everything
You said I was God’s answer
and I believed you were
mine
I was afraid
but who was I to argue
with God
(Or my hormones)
so young
You loved me for me
(or so I believed)
and maybe you did
for a time
But as years
multiplied
I became
less precious
and more someone
to be better than
So saying yes
to your April 1st proposal
did that make me
April’s fool?
