Not all hours with negative prices are equal. Spain has in 2026 already double the number of hours with negative prices than Germany, but the cumulated value is much lower. The cumulated value is calculated by summing all values when they are negative (like a load of 1 MW that starts when prices are negative). Greece and Poland have the same number of negative hours more or less in 2026 so far, yet a very different cumulated value. In some countries, solar is simply much more controllable ==> There are major differences between the solar assets from an utility-scale solar to a home-solar with feed-in tariffs.
