Re: “PEN America Names New Leadership” (news article, February 14) To the editor: I am among those whom Summer Lopez and Clarisse Rosaz Shariyf, as interim leaders of PEN America, “reach[ed] out to” in an effort to “rebuild trust” after the “Gaza fallout” referenced in the online headline. Sadly, their succumbing to the bullying tactics of anti-Israel activists prior to their newly-announced permanent joint appointment—examples of which appear in the article, and against which I and others repeatedly cautioned them—reveal that the time and labor invested in those conversations were utterly wasted.
