I’m thinking of hosting a series where we analyze first novels of very famous writers — but first novels that didn’t get any attention, that didn’t break through. Zadie Smith’s WHITE TEETH for example wouldn’t qualify but Salman Rushdie’s GRIMUS would.
Don’t know why but I learn so much from these books.
(Though pace Rushdie, I’d probably start with something more straightforward, more exoteric. Easier for focusing on its lessons, for generating heuristics
