The scientific name of Swamp Milkweed is Asclepias incarnata.

Asclepias is for Asclepius, the Greek god of healing. Named because past shamans and medicine women used milkweed to cure all kinds of illness.

The species name, incarnata, means flesh-colored, for the color. But for me, together they mean “Principle of healing incarnate.”
