There are about 100 species of asters in North America. At least one aster is native in every state and province. You very likely have asters blooming near you right now.

If you’re not sure which asters to expect, look on the page for which small maps show green where you are. You’ll find the scientific name of the aster whose map it is. Google those, and you’ll know what to look for on your nature walks.
