Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie), in my kitchen some years ago, helping make fake blood for a scene we were about to shoot, where she was to kill me.

She looked at what I had mixed up and said, “That’s pretty good. You know, though? I think if we add some of this, and some of that…”

I grabbed the ingredients she named, for her, and she tweaked the mixture in the sink. Something she learned from an FX guy on another set years before.

And she was right—it came out much better.
