Today, I realized that I would not be able to meet the deadline to get my novel draft to my agent.

This deadline was self-made, and it allowed me to prioritize the work for the last two months as I went through the whole draft again, chapter by chapter.

This weekend, I printed out my manuscript to read it and make a solid plan for what needed to be added/fixed/smoothed out before sending the draft to my agent.

This is our first edit together. We are still learning each other’s styles and communication preferences. Two phone calls and a handful of email exchanges so far have been immensely helpful, and it's been amazing to have someone champion my story and coach me on how to improve it.

I wanted to send her this draft by December 7th, but as I’ve started to go through it, I realize that I will be rushing if I make that deadline.

At this point in the process, I want my manuscript to be as polished as possible. So, if that means it will take longer than I originally hoped. I don’t want to see that as a failure. Instead, I want to remember that every day, this book is getting better. Even at this stage, the process is still the point <3
