Another thing I kept thinking while watching the show is that it feels like an antidote to the reality we are currently living in, while simultaneously being part of that very same reality. It is very easy right now to focus on (and we absolutely should keep focusing on) the injustices, cruelty, barbarism, and decline of critical thought, intelligence, and decency unfolding around us. The working class, the invisible, the poor are constantly being forced to shrink themselves, erase themselves, and accept less, all so the people who grabbed power can continue occupying, intimidating, robbing, and growing larger and more untouchable, like a cancer left untreated for too long. Kareem’s show, in its own way, resists that system.
