Make money doing the work you believe in
UPDATED: Regarding the 2.5 million alleged A.I. book deal, I have a few questions. Weigh in if you have thoughts.
The concept is about a fixer like Harvey Kietel in Pulp Fiction. The title is “Call Me, I’ll Hide the Body.” It sounds fun but it doesn’t have the viseral impact of the Yesteryear concept. Also, it sounds like men are the target audience and they don’t buy as many books as women.
Did the author have a huge platform? Update: No. He’s a grad student. Was there film interest? Yes. This is likely stirred the excitement.
On one hand the agents said that the prose was flat, but they also said, “Produced an incredible manuscript that dazzled us.” Which is more accurate?
Whatever the answers are, this is a game changer. I suspect the burden of proof will be on the author. I’m going to start emailing my daily work to myself. What about you?
