For it’s in the receiving and giving, in the dance between the two, that you participate with the Spirit of God. We are created for connection and mutuality, which means that there must be a flow of give and take. If we only ever give, we shrivel and harden, and if we only ever take, we become bloated, isolated, and centered on ourselves. Life is found in the mutuality of life with God and life with others.
