There’s a sense in which all of us ought to divest from Amazon, right this very second. And there are so many things we ought to do, right this very second, that it is completely overwhelming, and none of us can do them all immediately. We can’t simultaneously purify our engagement with social media platforms, buy perfectly ethical clothing to wear, source all of our food locally and avoid any entanglement with the exploitation of workers and cruelty to non-human animals, have an entirely green lifestyle which minimizes our carbon footprint, and and and and…, and stay vaguely kind and sane in the process. Or at least—confession time—I can’t.
