Make money doing the work you believe in

Charlotte Griffiths strikes again. The mouthpiece for the Sussexes, and sometimes Bea and Eug, came out with a column this weekend in the “Daily Mail” that’s clearly sourced from Meghan and Harry. It centered around Charles’ newest aide, Theo Rycroft. Griffiths writes that Rycroft has made it his “number one mission” to reunite William and Harry. From the article:

Sources say Mr Rycroft, married to Flora Astor, half-sister of Samantha Cameron, believes the situation has become 'f****** ridiculous' and is keen to resolve it 'urgently' for the King's sake.

One source said: 'He thinks it's time to knock their heads together. The mood is, "He's not wrong".

'Theo's a very reasonable guy and incredibly nice, and he completely gets that this is a source of great pain to the King and wants to help him resolve it.

'He sees his job as helping the King resolve it.'

Later in the article, Griffiths somewhat backtracks, explaining that William is fond of Rycroft and they have worked together on several major projects. Sources close to Rycroft deny all of this, stating, “Theo has never held or expressed the views as claimed.”

I think most of this is rubbish. But even if every aide to Charles felt this way, it would not matter. William and Kate, quite rightly, will never welcome Harry back as a working royal. It would be dangerous to W&K, their family, and the monarchy. And they know that.

Many of you have probably heard about the size guide that mysteriously appeared on As Ever’s site and then was taken down yesterday. I think this was a stupid stunt by Meghan because Kate’s trip to Italy is this week. And I think it was dropped to her supporters, a tip of where to find it on the site, then quickly removed.

Kate’s work in the early years space is applauded by experts worldwide, she commands respect because she’s actually done the work and doesn’t try to overshadow the true leaders in that field. She’s simply using her power to amplify their voices. And this genuine admiration from experts and leaders for Kate, grates on Meghan. That’s how insecure and petty she is.

Remember how early this spring, a cookbook announcement was briefed as coming soon, in the “Daily Mail”? I equate this t-shirt stunt to that. At that point, Netflix had already bailed and there was no real cookbook coming.

Stunts like this just harm Meghan and her brand. We see this over and over again from her, constantly. The debacle with Netflix, the mismanagement of As Ever, and now more stunts for publicity with very little meaning. Nothing has been learned.

And IF, at some point, she tries to break into fashion with t-shirts, the howling laughter from the world will be worse than the jam. Which actually could have been something, if it was backed with genuine authenticity from Meghan. And not just a fake founder’s story, created by Netflix. But, hawking t-shirts is not the strategic first step for a Duchess breaking into fashion. It’s laughable. She should have made that deal with J. Crew, when she had the chance. A high profile collab is what she needed.

I’m looking forward to Kate’s trip tomorrow and learning more about the Reggio Emilia Approach to early years education and learning. Wishing Kate all the best!! I know we will all be cheering her on.:)
