I was chatting with a fellow mom about how she’s feeling about her home right now. She has a baby like me and is feeling like she should be doing more. So I asked her where her bar is (AKA the line of measurement for which she’s comparing herself to.) And it was her old self, her pre-kids self, the one that could keep the home perfectly tidy and clean. I reminded her that that version of her is no longer here, but to be kind to herself. Being a mother is a tough, rewarding, and all-encompassing gig. Your home is just not going to look like how it used to or like the influencers online (who stage their shots), but it will still be your beautifully imperfect home and there’s value in that.
