The Bad Moms offer some really practical ways of thinking about the village in this piece. And honestly, it helped me to see how the village I’ve been steadily building for the last 4 years has my back. When I went to the ER last fall, my husband was out of town, my oldest 30 minutes away at dance. So I took my youngest 3 with me to the ER. Not ideal! A homeschool mom friend picked up my oldest from dance, drove up to the ER, and took my youngest kids to go get snacks at the grocery store while I was being treated. Once we got home (and my husband still wasn’t home) I knew I wasn’t well enough to parent. So I called an older mom from church and she came over to watch the kids while I rested. The village had my back that day!
