Make money doing the work you believe in

Last week, I visited Dickinson College in south-central Pennsylvania. Currently recognized as the most sustainable small liberal arts college in the U.S., Dickinson incorporates climate action into many aspects of students' everyday life, from a free clothing exchange to a bio-digester turning food waste into renewable energy to over 130 classes with a sustainability component.

💡 Good news: Every Dickinson student takes at least one sustainability course, and half of them take four or more before they graduate! Their organic farm, dining hall programs, and renewable energy projects are models of practical climate action.

💭 Not-so-good news: Many students still feel overwhelmed and unsure how to make a difference. This reflects broader trends showing that climate anxiety is growing among young people worldwide, impacting their mental health and well-being.

✨ What to do: Just off campus, nineteen-year-old Giovanni runs a local waste-free refill shop that helps students reduce plastic use, water, carbon, and waste. Zero-waste shops are becoming so popular these days that there's probably one in your area. Look it up, check it out, and tell people you know about it.
