“For the fate of the sons of mankind and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath, and there is no advantage for mankind over animals, for all is futility.” — Ecclesiastes 3:19.

Easter celebrates the teachings of Jesus, who spoke up for the vulnerable and taught billions about compassion. We decorate with baby chicks and lambs because they represent innocence and new life. And then we eat them for the taste. Can we truly say we practise compassion if we don’t show it to them too?
