We’re relaunching the Diabolical Lies brand with an important update to our redistribution pledge.
When caro claire burke and I started Diabolical Lies last July, we decided to make it an experiment. Would people pay for a podcast that only released two extra-long episodes per month? Would they listen to conversations that ranged from the politics of Botox and injectables to the making of an American terrorist? Could we build a 100% independent media outfit, with no outside funding or corporate sponsors? Would people find the show without promotional social media clips or clickbait soundbites? The answer, we know now, is an unequivocal “yes.”
We've pledged to give 33% of our net revenue to causes we care about. So far, we’ve donated more than $65,000 this year. Now, we’re handing the power back to you, our Dirty Little Liars. As a pilot initiative, the next quarter’s redistribution earnings of $30,000 will be handed over to the Colorado Liars, who will choose what to do with it on behalf of all of us.
After them, the power will be handed to another local group, and another, and another. That’s how this community will become something transformative: You trust us, and we trust you.
