This is a laughable attempt at justifying an annexation of Greenland as some kind of pre-emptive defence against a Chinese threat.

Apparently China might use anti-colonial arguments to turn Greenland against Denmark and into its orbit. But Denmark doesn't have a colonial relationship with Greenland. Denmark covers Greenland's defence and gives them autonomy, parliamentary representation and a gigantic subsidy. Greer seems to just assume there is some kind of traditional anti-colonial grievance narrative waiting to tap into without knowing anything about the relationship.

All the arguments about China using its economic might to lean on the EU into surrendering vast swathes of territory mean nothing when Greenland is already under NATO protection and already has a US military presence. As if a Chinese military presence could just sneak in under America's nose unless they annex the island.

I wonder if Greer himself finds any of this convincing. These arguments are too half-baked to even take seriously.
