Can we please end this myth that people don’t read anymore? Publishing is a 151.9 billion dollar industry. It is 5x the music industry.

Last year (2024), 782 million PRINT books were sold. That was an increase from the roughly 778 million books sold in 2023.

Here in Canada, our largest book chain (Indigo) has removed most of its alternate products and have returned to prioritizing books. In the U.S., Barnes and Noble are building more stores. Physical stores. To sell books.

Library and bookstore usage is up in the U.K. and global literacy rates are increasing. So please, do not let anyone tell you that people are not reading. They are.
