Sir William Herschel discovered Uranus, but his younger sister Caroline catalogued thousands of stars and became the first professional female astronomer, paid by the King of England. She discovered 8 comets and revised the standard catalogue of stars. And she did it all with limited vision from a childhood illness.
An asteroid, a lunar crater, and a comet are named after her.
