Enough of Netanyahu’s Theatre

Netanyahu’s speech yesterday, delivered beside Trump to sell yet another “peace plan” that strong-arms Palestinians into surrender, was a masterclass in projection. He declared that the Palestinian Authority must “undergo a radical and genuine transformation,” listing demands like end “pay to slay,” rewrite “poisonous textbooks,” stop “incitement” in media, drop ICC and ICJ cases, and recognize Israel as a Jewish state. A script recycled from pre-Oslo talking points, sprinkled with whatever has lately irritated him most.

The chutzpah is staggering. Israel props up and exploits a PA long criticized by Palestinians for collaboration, then demands it repent for crimes it hasn’t committed while Israel entrenches occupation, wages a catastrophic war, and ignores every call for accountability. It is the oppressor lecturing the captive on morality. A hollow theatre of blame that says more about Israeli hypocrisy than about Palestinian textbooks.

This performance cannot go unchallenged. When power dresses up injustice as moral clarity, it is calculated manipulation meant to excuse oppression and shift blame. States, media, and civil society must call it out loudly and relentlessly. Hypocrisy used to shield war and stall accountability is itself a moral offence and it must carry political and diplomatic cost.

Raise your voice: challenge these narratives wherever they appear, demand your representatives refuse to legitimise them, support outlets and movements that expose the deceit, and insist on real accountability.

Silence only feeds the show.
