My big critique of politicians is generally that they avoid taking on the really complex problems we face, like abolishing poverty. Instead, they tend to hit the issues that will win them elections.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone running for public office say they want to tackle “income inequality.” I am absolutely gobsmacked. I mean, I’m not even expecting him to do it, I’m just bowled over he wants to try.

In the words of Dr. King decades ago, he said, 'Call it democracy or call it democratic socialism; there must be a better distribution of wealth for all of God's children in this country.' And that's what I'm focused on, is dignity and taking on income inequality.
