As a bartender, your value comes from your personal performance. As a manager, your value comes from the performance of the team. That means stepping back from the bar sometimes. Empowering people. Delegating. Coaching privately. And creating trust. Your job becomes observing, guiding, and holding people accountable rather than doing everything yourself. It takes time to make that transition. But it was a good reminder that good intentions are not enough in leadership. The way your actions are experienced by your team ultimately determines whether they follow you or not.
