This is something that I have never done before to build a Electric Ukulele using my Telecaster template which has had the honour of being able to have made 33 for clients and then another 10 for myself but now I've got to really use some Algebra due to the size difference between a full size body and then the ¾ size that I've got to be be able to measure as many times as it takes before I will cut into the best piece of ‘Tulipwood in the Clear Grade’ which means that all I need to do is sand it lightly and then clear coat it in lacquer to reveal the different hues of yellows, purples and then it can be a mixture of green.
But I will only ever build a custom handmade guitar from a single piece of wood for the best reason which is the perfect resonance, this is something that you don't get the same thing from a 2 or 3 piece body which is something that Fender, Gibson and a multitude of others do, just because it's not an Acoustic Guitar doesn't mean that the body doesn't play a large part in it's overall sound.
I am going to be cutting the cavities out first before I cut out the shape, most people do it the other way around but this is the only time I will have perfect right angles to guarantee that the alignment of everything is within my a acceptable tolerances.
I will post more on this as it progresses but it's not a rush job it's for a friend to give his son for his 40th birthday.
