Alberto Romero, an AI-focused Substack author I follow, has threatened to block anyone who replies to his posts with LLM-generated comments.

I get where he's coming from, but I won't go that far. I'm glad that you're feeding my posts to chatbots for discussion, but I'm far more interested in what you said to the chatbot than what it said in response. If you reply to my human-scripted essays with LLM-generated bulk text, I likely won’t read it.

But if I recognize you as a long-time correspondent, I might meet your machine-generated bulk text with more of the same. The machines can generate it far faster than we can read it, much less consider it. You may think the LLM phrased your position better than you ever could. I know that feeling, but I'd rather hear from you.
