I grew up in a city that was the #2 target of Soviet ICBMs, being the second largest refinery complex after the Gulf corridor.

It was a psyop that terrorized two to three generations of kids, and I no longer believe any of it. We were still doing duck and cover drills in the ‘70s. (I’m early GenX.)
