Most people think of lotería as Mexican bingo.

Nobody mentions that the Catholic Church created their own version of it in the 1930s — replacing traditional images with saints and liturgical objects — most likely because the imagery looked too much like tarot cards for their comfort. Lotería was a game, but the Church wasn't taking chances.

An organization that officially prohibited divination essentially sanctioned its own deck, just with different branding.
