I really appreciate how this post disrupts the either-or narrative of instructional approaches (explicit vs inquiry) by harnessing what the research can and cannot support about each and showing the dangers of taking either approach too far. This point about multiple entry points absolutely squares with my classroom experience.

Second, because different learners have different reserves of firmly held knowledge in long term memory, they need different strategies. Problems should be designed with multiple entry points so that students with different reserves can all engage. And there is an important role for the teacher in monitoring student work and providing appropriate guidance.
