How do we hold the sorrow and the joy? The bitter and the sweet? The human and the spirit?
This is the ever evolving mystery. One that simply asks us to show up and arrive at the door of our heart — to breathe life into the ember.
Rick Bass said, “all hearts are tempted to grow numb, to withdraw and tuck in as if about to roost for the long night. We must not allow this to happen.”
When times are uncertain, the world dismantling, the suffering surmounting, we can feel the squeezing in upon ourselves — the curling away from Truth.
It is painful and yet, this is not a time to shut ourselves off to ourselves.
It is a time to know ourselves even more — to compassionately widen our connection to the heart compass within.
Even amidst the suffering of the world our little pockets of joy are a vibration for healing.
Our joy does not invalidate the hardships and challenges of others, or ourselves.
Our grief does not invalidate our joy.
What a blessing to know that we can hold both.
