Make money doing the work you believe in

Great piece. Though is there anywhere left, at least in the Western world, where men still do this type of street harassment?? And do they try to hustle women in the same manner, or is that considered rude?

This was the situation when my sister and I visited Italy in 1999. Almost as if every male there from ages 6 to 96 felt obligated to say something, or it would be rude and might insult a woman not to. At one point an actual pack of guys in Bologna were chasing us down the street screaming “Deutsche! Deutsche!” (we were not Deutsche). Contrast to the same year in the Netherlands, where nothing remotely of the sort occurred, and 8 don't think anyone in the entire country took notice of either one of us.

Haven't been back to Italy since, but everyone says it has changed entirely and that doesn't happen anymore. So perhaps nowadays the ONLY way to experience overwhelming street harassment (should you be in the mood for such things) as a westerner is to go to the middle East and appear to have any money at all on your person??

Though I’ve heard that when it comes to street hustles, no one holds a candle to little kids in India.
