One of the most frequent questions I am asked is whether it is possible to correct letters once they are written, and how. Now, leaving aside a few small tricks of the trade, which do exist but are only a palliative, the most truthful answer is that correcting is not possible. In this respect, writing is very different from drawing or painting. It requires that you "hit the mark" on the first (and only) try. And after the first letter, it will be the same for the second, then for the third, and so on, until the last. From this point of view, writing is merciless. If, however, you look at it with different eyes, writing confronts us with our limits and our fears. And fear itself, the fear of making mistakes, is the main obstacle that needs to be overcome. Continuous practice helps to overcome one's own fears as well.
