Viktor Frankl believed existentialism can combat fascism.

These days, however, both terms have become nebulous. Ask most people what they understand by the term “fascism” and they’ll most likely point their finger at the other side, forgetting that within the very etymology of both Nazism and fascism—national socialist; and fascio, a bundle of sticks—is the key to understanding why so many people remain attracted to self-serving chauvinistic ideologies. Ask others what they understand by the term “existentialism,” and they’ll answer, “doesn’t that mean there’s no meaning to existence” or “nothing matters” or “isn’t it the same thing as nihilism?”

No, it isn’t.
