A man is going to experience misogyny on the Right differently than women, obvs. But even more fascinating—and pertinent—is that various women on the Right are going to have very different experiences of treatment by male colleagues, bosses, etc. based on what kind of body they have, specifically how they look, how attractive or unattractive they are, and how they make people of the opposite sex feel in their presence.

Yet the Right is doing that thing again where everyone comments online as disembodied intellects concerning things that A) only happen because people have certain bodies and B) Happen differently or not at all depending on the body they have and C) Happen in part because of the type of body their own body attracts!

Someone talked anonymously to NY Mag about misogyny and male/female issues on the Right, and now we all get to take a side as if we all had the exact same data set or life experience to work with. But of course, we don’t…

It is a little bit ridiculous that we discuss this online as if none of us had bodies, or as if all of us had the same type of body, or as if all of us of had the same sex appeal.

In general, as my grad school prof used to say, where you stand depends on where you sit. Let’s stop pretending that we all are sitting in the same damn place, and that therefore morality and decency demand we all take the same exact stand.
