Read Across America Day

Grab your stripediest hat and your snugglest rug; it’s time to celebrate the stories that connect us all.

Do you remember the exact moment you realized a book could take you anywhere? For me, that realization is happening all over again—this time, through the wide-eyed wonder of my granddaughter.

Read Across America Day is an annual event celebrated on March 2nd. Originally timed to coincide with Dr. Seuss's birthday, the National Education Association established the day in 1998 to motivate children to read and to celebrate the diverse tapestry of stories that reflect the American experience.
