The Rhythm of Stillness: Where My Best Ideas Hide

How walking, reading, and a tech-free riverbank became my ultimate creative fuel.

My creativity isn't a bolt of lightning; it’s more like a slow-burning fire that needs specific fuel to stay bright. Lately, I’ve found three things that never fail to spark my imagination: walking, reading, and sitting quietly.

There's something about the rhythm of daily walks that shakes loose the cobwebs. My best plot twists and solutions to stubborn storyline problems always arrive somewhere between the first mile and the last.

When I’m not moving, I’m usually immersed in a book; reading is what keeps my "pot of inspiration" simmering, adding new flavors and ideas to my own work.

Perhaps most importantly, I’ve been leaning into the power of "tech-free" stillness. Just sitting by the river, watching the water flow without a screen in my hand, allows my mind to wander where it needs to go. It’s in these moments of quiet observation that the most unexpected ideas finally have the room to surface.

When your creative well runs dry, do you find clarity in movement, or do you need total stillness to find your next big idea?
