MORNING MILES, HOT COFFEE, AND A WINDOW TO THE WORLD
A Peek Into My Summer Writing Routine
My ideal summer writing day begins long before I touch the keyboard. It starts with an early-morning walk while the air is still crisp and cool—the perfect way to wake up my senses and get my creative energy moving.
Once I’m home, the ritual truly begins. I brew a hot cup of coffee and forage in the kitchen for a snack. Fortunately, I’m married to Len, which means there are always delicious, scratch‑made treats waiting to be discovered.
With coffee and something sweet in hand, I head to my writing studio tucked in the hayloft of a historic carriage house (circa 1865). My desk sits right beside a window, giving me a front‑row seat to the lush summer greenery outside. It’s a quiet, uninterrupted space—the kind where ideas stretch out and settle in.
I stay immersed in my words until the afternoon calls for a reset. Then it’s time for another walk, a breath of fresh air, and a seamless switch to a tall glass of crisp iced tea.
Ahhh, summertime.
