TABLE FOR TWO, REMEMBERED BY ONE

Lunch With A Woman Cursed to Leave No Trace

If I could book a lunch date with any literary character right now, I'd pull up a chair for Addie LaRue.

She's the titular heroine of V.E. Schwab’s The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. If she were pulling the strings, our venue could be absolutely anywhere. We might share pastries in 1714 France, sip espresso in a Jazz Age Parisian café, or grab a quick bite in modern-day New York City. Cursed with immortality and ultimate freedom, Addie can wander through any century or country she pleases.

There's just one devastating catch: I wouldn't remember a single second of it.

Addie lives under a dark curse, the result of a desperate bargain made with a god who answers after dark. She's doomed to be forgotten by everyone she meets the exact moment she leaves their sight. It would be the most extraordinary lunch of my life—and by dinnertime, my mind would be a total blank.

If you had a lunch date with your current read, who would it be?
