One of the things that keeps popping up in the Lucy Letby case that I think has become part of the common language in the court but is entirely false…
Many times the prosecution, prosecution witnesses and even the defence barrister have incorrectly stated that Child A didn’t have fluids for 4 hours.
This was the 4 hours while Child A awaited the ‘long line’ and then for Nurse Taylor to start the dextrose infusion.
This ignores that Child A was noted to have a “tissued” UVC at 1 pm.
And several witnesses testified Child A had no IV access.
Let that sink in.
Tissued at some point before Nurse Taylor noted it at 1pm.
Therefore no fluids SINCE 1 PM.
The Dextrose infusion started at 8:05pm
Given that clinically you do not count the two 1ml tests done using the nasogastric tube to see if he would tolerate milk in his stomach.
That means NO FLUIDS FOR AT LEAST SEVEN HOURS.
It seems basic math is something that nobody in the courtroom can do.
