When we are fixated on the future, we have very little energy for today.

So much of the pressure and urgency we feel comes from fear. Fear of failure. Fear of missing the boat. Fear of what others think. Fear of what comes next.

Fear is a microscope. It takes real concerns and makes them appear far larger than they are. Then it convinces you that everything is urgent and everything needs to be handled right now.

Fear and anxiety are ruthless slave drivers. They need to be named for what they are.

Philippians 4:6-7 says it plainly: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NASB)

And 1 Peter 5:7 cuts straight to the reason we can actually do that: “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” (NASB)

You are not designed to carry what He already offered to hold.
