The app for independent voices

Tuesday Tip for English learners:

Find someone to practise speaking with

Some of the most common comments I see on social media are:

- “Nobody here speaks English.”

- “I need a native speaker to talk to.”

- “I need a speaking partner.”

So find somebody to talk to.

This could be:

* a teacher

* a classmate

* a native-speaker friend

* a friend who is learning English

* a language exchange partner

If you can pay for lessons, that’s probably the fastest way to learn, but I know that’s not an option for everyone.

If you have a native speaker friend, that’s great! But it’s not a magical solution to all your learning problems.

You could also try to find a language exchange partner. This is an English speaker who is learning your language. You help them with your language and they help you with English.

You don’t absolutely need a native speaker to talk to. Talk to non-native speakers too. It’s still great practice!

I bet a lot of you have a friend who is also learning English. You can practise together. Or you can find a practice partner online, perhaps in one of my Facebook groups!

If you really can’t find anyone to talk to, then you can talk to yourself! It might not be perfect but it’s a lot better than nothing!

If you want help finding a speaking partner, look in the comments for some links.
