I love teaching. Creating safe spaces in places that are least expected. Seeing students realize that they CAN do math, despite years of messages to the contrary. And, I am struggling. I just finished my quarter and the floodgates have opened on all of the writing I couldn’t do during that time. Teaching has become a distraction. I change people’s lives in the classroom. But I change mine, and others through writing. I dream of the day that writing begins to fund my life, so I can teach because I want to.
