Our world has become reductionistic.
We reduce things down to seperate parts in order to understand. We have believed that this will help us make sense of the whole.
It hasn’t.
One area we see this reductionism in is conventional medicine. It is broken up into hundreds of different specialties. No doubt this gives rise to expertise (a cardiac specialist is an expert in the heart, an eye specialist in eyes, a cancer specialist in cancer and so on) … but …
… is this reductionist approach to health leading to improved health outcomes across the globe?
Hardly.
For example, rates of heart disease, diabetes, anxiety and many other things are shooting through the roof.
We need a different approach.
Let’s not reduce things to their parts, rather let’s look at the intersections between these closely connected things. For example >>>
» Mental health and gut health - not separate, connected.
» Cognitive decline and metabolism - not separate, connected.
» Energy levels and self belief - not separate, connected.
» ADHD and sleep quality - not separate, connected.
» Self worth and cardiac events - not seperate, connected.
I’ve been sitting on this for a while. I’ve been wrestling with how to help people connect the dots. That’s where I’m now going with Revitalise. In fact, the name just got an upgrade. It’s now …
… REVITALISE - The Whole You
Let’s not reduce things any more.
Time to look at the intersections.
