Mark Rutte admits the obvious - the US is running NATO, and by extension, the EU, as Europe "cannot defend itself without the US."

"If anyone thinks here that the European Union or Europe as a whole can defend itself without the U.S., keep on dreaming. The ultimate guarantor of our freedom is the US nuclear umbrella," NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
