From Value-Substitution to Sapiopoiesis
For centuries, we have confused substitutes for value — prices, KPIs, credentials, likes — with value itself.
These substitutes stabilized coordination, but at the cost of coherence.
They produced signals optimized for visibility, not for orientation.
The real value has always been different:
subject autonomy — the integrity of orientation across contexts and time.
When autonomy becomes the measure, the map of signal and noise redraws itself.
What once counted as “success” dissolves into redundancy.
What once looked like noise — silence, ambivalence, friction — becomes signal again.
🔑 Epistemic Keys
Noise = redundancy without orientation.
Signal = differences that enlarge coherent choice-space for subjects.
Meaning = orientation sustained — never a property of tokens.
AI compresses redundancy; what survives is cliché. Orientation still requires subjects.
Civilizational viability depends on Sapiopoiesis: subjects in coherence, not tools or swarms.
This is the heart of my new essay:
👉
It is both a critique of our current systems and a programmatic agenda for civilizational viability.
