Sam is triggered by the revenue question for 2 3 reasons: (1) lack of precise paths to revenue growth, other than wild ambition. And (2), constraints by MS on compute and distribution restrictions. Oh and (3), getting critical questions from a shareholder (Brad: “When can I get my money out ?”). So pressure but no control. Satya on the other hand quickly defends MSFT resource commit restrictions. He can deliver more, but wants to control speed and spend. There is tension building inside this partnership. Satya is (indirectly) saying “Sam fix your software before asking more hardware.” That answer itself is a red flag and clearly signals some sort of growing tension between Sam and Satya.
