I’m watching something on Flightradar24 I’ve never seen in 15 years of flying long-haul routes.
There’s a hole in the sky over the Middle East.
One of the busiest aviation crossroads on Earth… almost empty.
Flights between Europe and Asia are now being squeezed through just two narrow corridors.
Over 12,000 flights cancelled. Thousands of passengers stranded. Airlines rerouting across entire continents.
From the cockpit, the picture looks very different than the headlines.
So I wrote a breakdown of what’s actually happening:
✅ which airports are still operating
✅ the two routes pilots are using right now
✅ where travelers can still get in or out of the Gulf
✅ and where the disruptions could spread next
If you're flying through the region soon, this may save you a lot of trouble.
