Most people today have no idea how glamorous flying once felt.
This was Continental Airlines’ “California Room” aboard the DC-10 in 1973.
Wide seats. Warm lighting. Lounge atmosphere. Curtains instead of hard dividers. Airlines wanted passengers to feel the experience not just arrive at the destination.
The early widebody era was something special.
Back then, first class wasn’t designed around maximizing seats. It was designed around space, comfort, and the idea that air travel itself should feel exciting.
Honestly, cabins like this feel more like a luxury hotel lobby than an airplane.
Would you fly in this over today’s modern cabins?
